Moonlight — Paint & Vibe workshop
Art Instructor: Adriana Reyes
Year: 2024
Location: Salt Cave, New Jersey
Project Type: Community Art Workshop / Paint & Vibe Experience
Medium: Acrylic Paint on Canvas
Color Palette: Five Colors
Techniques: Color Blending, Dry Brushing, Layering, Tonal Shading, Texture, and Atmospheric Painting
In 2024, I facilitated a Paint & Vibe workshop at a salt cave in New Jersey, focusing on creating a realistic moonlit landscape using acrylic paints and a simplified five-color palette. The painting features a luminous full moon against a deep blue night sky, complemented by subtle clouds, scattered stars, and the silhouette of a tree.
The limited palette was intentionally selected to demonstrate how a small range of colors can produce depth, contrast, and atmospheric effects through blending and tonal variation. The composition emphasizes the relationship between light and darkness, encouraging participants to explore how highlights, shadows, and texture can create the illusion of three-dimensional form on a flat surface.
Leadership and Instructional Skills Demonstrated
Limited Color Palette: Exploring color mixing and tonal variation using only five colors.
Blending: Creating smooth transitions between different shades of blue.
Texture Development: Using layered brushwork to recreate the moon’s cratered surface.
Light and Shadow: Demonstrating how highlights and darker values establish depth.
Silhouette Painting: Creating contrast through the dark tree branches against the illuminated sky.
Atmospheric Perspective: Using subtle clouds and color transitions to establish depth and visual interest.
This workshop demonstrates my ability to simplify complex visual subjects into approachable painting exercises while introducing foundational concepts in color theory, value, texture, and composition. By using a limited palette, I created an opportunity for participants to develop technical painting skills without relying on an extensive selection of materials.
The project reflects my ability to design engaging community art experiences that combine technical instruction, creativity, and artistic exploration.
tropical sunset — private Paint & Vibe

Welcome to Whoville — Seussical the musical
Year: 2026
Medium: Acrylic Paint on Freestanding Scenic Panel
Project Type: Collaborative Student Mural / School Theater Production
Role: Art Instructor and Project Facilitator
Instructional Tools: Projector, Drawing Materials, and Acrylic Paints
Skills Taught: Drawing, Projection-Based Tracing, Color Theory, Color Blocking, Brush Control, Outlining, Composition, and Collaborative Painting
I guided students through the creation of a large-scale Whoville scenic mural for the school production of Seussical the Musical.
Students actively participated in drawing, tracing, and painting the composition. Using a projector, we transferred the design onto a freestanding scenic panel, allowing students to explore proportion, scale, and the process of enlarging an illustration.
I instructed students in acrylic painting techniques, color selection, brush control, and outlining while encouraging collaboration throughout the project. The composition incorporated vibrant colors, exaggerated architectural forms, and whimsical details inspired by the visual style of Dr. Seuss.
This interdisciplinary project connected visual arts, technology, and theatrical production. Students developed practical skills in drawing, projection-based image transfer, large-scale painting, and collaborative problem-solving. They also experienced how visual artwork contributes to storytelling and the overall presentation of a theatrical performance.
The project demonstrates my ability to integrate instructional technology, coordinate collaborative artwork, and guide students through a multistep creative process from initial drawing to completed scenic design.
